Oscar Beltran – Yatiri – Bolivian musician

 on

Meet Oscar Beltran, a Bolivian musician who calls himself Yatiri. Yatiri translated from a traditional Inca Quechua language of the Andes means “the healer”. I am not sure if Oscar’s music can heal but it certainly can sooth the soul. He plays Charango, a 10-string guitar like instrument, the Quena (flute) and the Siku (panpipes). From familiar “El Cóndor Pasa”, through “lambada” to more traditional south American folk songs. You can find out more about Oscar on his website www.yatiri.net. There is a lot of passion in his music and it seems to reflect in his radiant face.

Hi Oscar, I saw you recently at Bowral Tulip Festival and bought one of your DVDs. You’re very talented, I originally bought the DVD to show to children at the pre-school where I work to demonstrate woodwind, string and percussion instruments of a different culture, however I’ve found I love your music so much I just have to get your Christmas Cd can I purchase it at Chatswood melody market? Plus why don’t you create a facebook fan page?- I’m a 3rd gen Australian and I’m sure theres plenty more out there that would love your music-would love to add you to my music profile on facebook!!

Oscar is a legend! I saw him play in a shopping centre, bought a DVD. Sorr, Oscar for copying the DVD and giving to my parents, who were visiting me at that time. They really liked the music and wanted to have a copy. I will buy more media when I see you next time!!!
My little son is listening to the music all the time.
