Few days ago I was watching a documentary about street photographers in New York. They were getting really into people’s way and snapped away. At times the result were quite interesting but most of the photographs resulted in what I would refer to as street portraits – singling out an individual person rather than capturing a situation.
I have decided to try their technique today and the photograph of the Girl with a cigarette was my first such photograph. Shooting from the heap, with camera preset to almost everything-auto mode.
There is something to this technique. The human expressions are very genuine and the movement is captured well. I may try this more often.
