Homeless man in brand new Dr. Martens boots

 on

This is a very special photograph for me. Firstly because I did not have to ask this homeless man if I can take a photograph of him. He asked me to take a photo. Secondly, this is a very rare occasion where a homeless person was actually very happy.

And the secret behind his joy? The man received a brand new pair of Dr. Martens boots. He was overjoyed with them and asked everyone around if they liked his new, red boots.

I know this man. I spent some time in Sydney and used to chat to him quite a lot. His name is Jim. Really nice bloke (when sober). I have a few photo’s of him actually.

This pic brought back a few memories. Thanks 🙂

this is awsome . it made me think how simple life can be . since i’ve been living in brazil i have this kind of surprises quite often . it didin’t make me cry but surely made me think that life has other purposes … thanks

Beautiful photograph. It almost made me tear up, reading your blurb on how overjoyed he was that he had new boots. It really shows that millions of people take things for granted, and have their heads filled with thoughts of more money, that they forget the simple pleasures of life. Just getting a pair of boots, made this man happy! It’s beautiful.

This picture is Awesome. It is the simple things in life that we sometimes forget are the most important. And how someone with nothing can find joy in what little he does gain. JESUS is in all of us. When we realize that and take the time to see him in EVERYONE then we will live in LOVE.

I love this photo a lot. I was wondering whether I could paint it, or a variation of it?
Thank you so much, and excellent work!

that made me cry… weird i suppose but it did

  • Great shot of the homeless guy. It’s a nice, refreshing change to see a shot like this that doesn’t patronise the subject or make them look pathetic – great work.

along with the little blurb you wrote, that made me cry

  • Thought provoking shot! Makes me realise how much I take things for granted…
I also like the candid shot of the couple on their lunch break
