Zebra at Taronga ZOO

 on

If there is a place I am always glad to go and visit it would have to be the Taronga ZOO. So many interesting animals on both side of the fence. With the latest arrival of baby elephant who was named “Luk Chai” my kids decided we should pay a visit. Today was a perfect day to visit the ZOO – not a cloud in the sky and a pleasant 18C. Simply beautiful Sydney winter day.

Todays photograph is not that of the baby elephant but a more artistic black and white photograph of a very shy zebra. I must admit I do not recall seeing them in the ZOO before as they seem to occupy old rhinoceros enclosure. The two zebras stood behind the bushes making it very difficult to photograph them. For a first time in months I mounted my EF 70-200mm F/2.8IS lens and decided on a side shot from behind the bushes.

Looking at home at this zebra photograph with its pattern of stripes and how effective it looks in black and white I decided I have to go back and take more photos of zebras. They make such excellent photographic subjects.

Fantastic shot Ted. Love the lighting and the black and white stripes. Well done.
