Light show

Couple of weeks ago I visited Melbourne for four days. Unfortunately I did not have a lot of spare time for photography, never the less I managed to capture few interesting shots. One of them was taken in total darkness, where a thin layer of laser like light was cutting through fog machine generated “atmosphere”. I did not have a tripod with me and I did not hold much hope for the photograph. I was very pleasantly surprised when I loaded this image into Lightroom.

The sky like view created by the light was uncanny. Almost as if the space has wrapped itself around my lens. And a single ray of light piercing the dark, unlit portion of the space added to the depth illusion of this photograph.

Sydney Opera House at night

Last night I went with a friend from work to get few photographs of Sydney Opera House from up close. The VIVID Festival lights are still illuminating the Opera House sails and we were hoping for some original abstracts, rather then typical whole building shots.

I faced a major challenge as I have left my tripod at home, and hand holding a camera at night is a near impossibility. Also, there are very few pylons or other elements I could use for support. In short I had almost no chance for any good photos. However, I have managed to capture a couple of exposures from a set of steps opposite the Opera House and I liked this one in particular.
