Story behind the photograph
This striking underwater photograph of Striped Surgeon fish was taken at Great Barrier Reef and it marks a new interest in my life: diving and underwater photography. I have recently completed PADI Open Water Diver course and to test my new skills went to the Great Barrier Reef.
As a beginner diver who still has to watch his compass, air gauge and dive computer very closely I do not have many photographs to show for my 11 dives on the reef but what I saw there has made a deep mark on me. The reef is beautiful beyond anything you can see even in the best documentary. The deep, vibrant colours and the magnitude of the underwater life is simply awesome.
