Surfing the waves

Continuing my beach photography series today I am publishing a photo of a surfer on top of the wave.

In a way it is quite unusual photograph, and only environmental situation at Terrigal allowed me to capture this scene. It looks like I am on a watercraft just next to him to get that perspective. In fact I was standing on the rocks quite far into the ocean and he passed me very close by. Surfers there risk serious injuries because of these rocks, but this is also where the biggest and longest waves are.

A minute of silence at the beach

I took this black and white photograph of lifesavers at the Terrigal beach observing a minute of silence before competition sometime back in March 2013. I have not heard the announcement to know who they were honouring, but the atmosphere was very somber. Only moments later the life returned to normal and usual loud cheering accompanied the boat races.
